Building the right foundation from day one.
PUPPIES & HOUSEHOLD OBEDIENCE
Not every dog is destined for the uplands, but every dog deserves clear expectations, steady leadership, and structure at home.
At Annapolis Pointing Dog Company, we offer practical, real-world obedience training for puppies and family dogs in the Annapolis area. Our focus is simple: develop well-mannered, confident dogs that are enjoyable to live with and responsive to their owners.
-
The first months matter.
We begin working with puppies as early as 8–10 weeks old to establish structure, boundaries, and trust. Early training prevents future problems and builds confidence in both the dog and the owner.
Puppy training focuses on:
Crate training and house manners
Leash introduction and recall
Socialization in controlled environments
Food structure and impulse control
Calm behavior in the home
Introduction to basic commands
The goal is not tricks. The goal is clarity.
-
For older puppies and adult dogs, we focus on building reliable, real-life obedience.
This includes:
Learning to walk on a leash
Introduction to recall
Place training
Boundary work
Calm behavior around guests
Structured routines
Sessions are conducted locally in Annapolis and can take place in your home or in appropriate outdoor settings, depending on your dog’s needs.
-
We train dogs to understand expectations — not to fear them.
Clear communication. Consistency. Accountability.
We do not work with violent or fighting breeds, and we do not use training methods that rely on chaos or intimidation. The emphasis is steady leadership and practical application.
